Meet me at the mall

A Celebration of Community, Education, and Engagement

Meet me at the mall

On Tuesday, April 8th, 2025, the Macon Mall transformed into a hub of celebration and connection as the Bibb County School District hosted its annual “Meet Me At The Mall” event. Families, students, educators, and community partners gathered for an energetic evening filled with music, information, performances, and plenty of smiling faces.

Superintendent Dr. Dan A. Sims welcomed attendees with a message focused on unity, progress, and continuing the mission of student success. The event wasn’t just about school—it was about building bridges between families and the many resources available to them right here in Bibb County.

“Supe” superintendent headlined and spoke with students.

🎉 Event Highlights Included:

  • Student Performances that lit up the stage, including a standout from the Northeast High School Band
  • CPR demonstrations courtesy of Middle Georgia State University, teaching hands-on, life-saving skills
  • Financial literacy resources and support from Middle Georgia Credit Union
  • Animal services outreach by the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control Unit, sharing insights on pet care and adoption
  • A powerful display of precision and discipline from the Jr. ROTC Drill Team, who showcased military Drill and Ceremony (DNC)
  • Milestones test prep support, summer camp signups, district updates, and free giveaways

One of the evening’s most heartwarming elements was the visible pride students took in representing their schools—whether through music, dance, or simply sharing their achievements. The performances by the Northeast High School Band and local cheer teams brought spirit and rhythm to the event, while community booths buzzed with conversation and connection.

And let’s not forget the little ones—plenty of activities were on hand to keep young attendees smiling and spinning (sometimes literally, thanks to hula hoops and bubbles). Parents left informed and excited about the upcoming school year, with access to essential resources and district updates.

The District‘s Police Department was also in attendance. They also joined in the fun!

I hope this becomes a regular event! See you next time.
